Although we mostly work on residential, we do a commercial project here and there. Right now, we’re working on a commercial building on Solano Avenue in Albany, including tearing down most of the original building. This called for a construction front, and rather than have a 50 foot wall of bare plywood on such an active street, we opted to have it covered in a mural.
Cannon Dill, an artist who works on both small and large scale pieces, designed this mural around our suggested themes of workers and community. In his signature black and white style, he crafted a wall of hands that flows from open to clasped.
In a few months, the building will be done, and the front will come down. Rather than scrap it, we’ll be installing it on a concrete wall at another jobsite as an outdoor garden backdrop.
